02/14/18 - "When a Dog Loves a Human" / -Feb'18 CKC-

It's Valentines Day...
Love is in the air, so what a perfect day to share this layout about how much our dog Spotty loves my husband David.

This is also another layout using ONLY my February Counterfeit Challenge Blog kit; this makes layout 3 from my kit:

 -9x12-
"When a Dog Loves a Human"
Journaling:
"Spotty loves to be around us, but his favorite person is definitely David!
Even if I'm petting and cuddling him, he will leave me to be w/ David. 1.21.18"

Partly inspired by the February Music Challenge over at SB.com/Category #2 - Song Title.
I chose "When a Man Loves a Woman" but made some necessary changes ::wink::

My husband and I don't celebrate Valentines because we celebrate our love all year long (::gag:: I know, LOL)
Hope you have a great day, however you spend it!

02/09/18- February CKC Layouts #1 and #2

Helloooooo!
In case you were wondering... Yes, I have been creating w/ my February counterfeit kit inspired by the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog.
So far I have created 2 layouts.
I would like to create at least 4 to match last months CKC project number...so I'm half-way there!
A 5th project (at the very least) would make me extra happy!
It's still early enough in the month that I think I can do it!

For now let's look at projects #1 and #2.

First here's a reminder of my kit:

Project #1. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

 5x8 Travelers Journal/Jot Journal Page
For my BOM (Book of Me)
"Enjoy Beer"

Journaling:
"I've never been a fan of beer but lately I've been enjoying it and drinking it more regularly. My favorites are any flavor by Redds, Angry Orchard, and some of the various sour varieties.
27 Jan 2018"

Project #2. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

2-Page Midori Travelers Notebook Spread
(each page is 4.5 x 8.5)
For my Pet Album
"Nap Pals"

Besides using my kit in general, I am happy to say I used 3 of the scraps I included in the kit.

I had fun making both layouts but working w/ limited amounts of items is DEFINITELY a challenge!
Every so often I  would think that I had an item that would "look perfect on this page" and want to go and grab it and then remember...NOPE! LOL!

But it's okay because I am very happy w/ both layouts!
And I hope I will have more to share very soon!

02/03/18 - February "Counterfeit Challenge Blog" Kit

Last month I played.... for the first time EVER... along w/ the "Counterfeit Kit Challenge" Blog.
I REALLY enjoyed it so I'm playing again this month.
Today I am sharing w/ you the kit I will be using.

But first here is the inspiration kit -
"Weekend In Paris":

and here is the link to the actual Blog Post: CKC February Kit.

.
.
.

This is my kit  - "So Romantical":

BTW I realize "romantical" isn't an actual word, but it is a throwback to when I was a Kardashian fan and Khloe used the word and I liked it and it became a permanent part of my vocabulary; some things just stick!

Okay so this is how I decided what was to go into my kit:

The inspiration kit has lots of
-turquoise
-pink
-flowers
and
-romantic/love" items
It also has pops of yellow
so that was what I gravitated to when choosing my items.
I included some scraps and un-used items from my January Counterfeit Kit, and general scrap items from my stash because one of the main points of this challenge is to use up your stash.
I also added a few stamps because one of my goals this year is to use my stamps... I made sure the stamps that I chose went w/ the kit's overall theme though; same w/ my choice of washi tapes (gotta have my washi!).

The only thing I would say doesn't exactly go w/ the theme is my pet items. I included pet items, cuz I scrap my pets a lot... though I realized after the fact that I forgot the piggy items DOH!
Even though pet items don't quite go w/ the theme, unless you include the fact that I "love" my pets very much (that works, right?!), I did try to stick as close as I could to the color scheme.

I made this kit bigger than last month's because I felt too limited last month.
And yes, it is BIG but remember it's not anywhere near as big as having my entire scrappy arsenal to choose from so it will still, definitely, be a challenge!

I'm hoping to create a lot more projects than I did last month; last month I created 4 ... stay tuned to see if I do it!

And don't forget to visit the Counterfeit Blog to see other kit examples!

02/02/18 - "Book of Me" -AKA- Another New Project

It's not Thursday, but I'm going to Throw It Back for a moment.
Back to my first layout of 2018
Created on January 1st, 2018!
Dimensions = 5x8

"Congrats to Me - 2017 Reading Challenge"
Journaling:
"Surpassed my 2017 Reading goal of 12 books by 10!
12.31.17"

This documents me completing my 2017 Reading Challenge!
This is also my first layout/page in my "Book of Me" Journal.

I was gifted a Jot Journal from a friend as part of a Christmas Gift.
I've never heard of a Jot Journal before but it is similar to a Travelers Notebook/Midori Travelers Notebook.
This particular journal has pages that are approximately 5x8.
I decided to turn this journal into a "Book of Me"
I plan on just scrapping random photos/stories about me...not necessarily in chronological order.

Here are 2 more layouts I've created:

 "NOPE"
Journaling:
"In case your wondering...
Nope, "Not Today"...or any other day actually.
My new T-Shirt from Hot Topic.
You put a cat and/or a sarcastic saying on it and I'll buy it, LOL"
- July 30th 2017

"Cat Backpack"
Journaling:
"Bought this cute backpack. TBH, I did have a, "I'm 41 yrs old I shouldn't be carrying a cat backpack" moment but my daughter convinced me that if I like it, I should buy it. So buy it I did! Bonus: It has ears!"

Cat washi tape is from Target - I just HAD to have it!

Here's a photo of both pages together so you can get a better idea of the size of the book/project.

So far I am having lots of fun w/ this and it's a great way to use up the "1-photo" photos I take of myself and/or things/events that tell pieces of MY story. I also love it because it's an easy way to use up scraps and the smaller size page allows for faster scrapping while still allowing room for creativity!

I already have another layout in mind...
If only I was home to scrap it...
Soon, and when I do, I'll definitely be sharing!

01/31/18 - "Seriously Cozy" and Monthly Re-cap

One of my scrappy goals this year is to try really hard to keep up w/ my scrap-worthy photos!
This is why I am branching out into different styles/sizes/types of documenting.
I have plans to write a blog posts explaining all that...eventually.

For today though I am sharing:
- my most recent completed project; #23 for the month/year.
- a re-cap of my month in general.
(Another goal I have this year is wanting to do a re-cap at the end of every month.)

First the layout:

12x12 Layout

"Seriously Cozy"

Journaling:
"Friday Morning: hanging out w/ Hamlet in between running errands...
Afternoon: Repeat, but this time Panini decides to join us. 1.12.2018"

Question: Why do cats look pissed off even when they are doing what they want?!
LMAO!

For those who are new to my blog, just a heads up, I LOVE animals and my animals are pretty much the world to me; they are (just barely) under my kids and husband, LOL, so I spend a lot of time cuddling w/ them.
I actually have 3, the other is a dog,  but it's very difficult to get them all together at the same time!
This particular day I was able to get a photo of 2 of my babies together...and although I think ALL my pet photos are scrap-worthy...this was even more-so!

A lot of the products on my layout came from the "The Scrap Room" January Kit(s):

And my (favorite) Simple Stories "Emoji" Kit.

.
.
.

Now for my monthly re-cap:

Number of projects created = 23

12x12 Layouts = 6
4.5x8.5 Traveler's Notebooks Layouts = 6
Mini-Album (Dec Daily) Pages = 4
Pocket Pages = 6
OLW Pages = 1

4 of the above projects were done for a challenge I decided to join for the first time this year: the Counterfeit Challenge Blog... now that I know what I'm doing, I'm hoping to accomplish more for this challenge next month!

BTW - Some of these I haven't yet shared, but I will.

Also, non-scrap related: I read 3 books.
My goal is 25 for the year; last year I read 23.

Anyway...
I'd say it was a productive month!
Tomorrow is the first day of February and I am looking forward to a new month of scrappiness!
Hope January was a good (and productive) month for you!

01/28/18 - OLW?

Hello there!
How has 2018 been treating you so far?
So far so good...hopefully!

Today I wanted to talk about "One Little Word" or "OLW" as it's also known.

Before I go into what I want to say about it, I want to explain OLW to those of you who do not know what it is.
It was created by Ali Edwards, Scrapbooker Extraordinaire, and this is how she explains it (copied from her website):

"What is One Little Word®?

In 2006 I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January—a word to focus on, to live with, to investigate, to write about, to craft with, and to reflect upon as I go about my daily life. These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another—a process I document via simple creative monthly prompts from January to December."

In case you're more of a visual person, here's the link to her site:

Okay...
Get the concept?
Good!

Now for my story.

I tried OLW, once!
And it was a fail!
What did I fail at? Following the workshop...
I paid for it, did like one prompt and then that was it...
I was done!
I realized though I love the concept of OLW I am not a "prompt" type of girl.
I need freedom to explore things my way and workshops and prompts are just way to stifling!

I have not approached OLW since then...whatever year that was (I can't remember!).

But this year as I was seeing posts for OLW I decided maybe I can still participate.
'Choose' a word and use it in my own way.
And as I thought about it and continued to read the various OLW posts, and see what words others were choosing, my word finally just came to me!
That's when I knew I had to do SOMETHING OLW related this year!

I do not know yet what my OLW journey will consist of but...
I do have my word and that's a great start!
The fact that a word came to me, chose me, tells me I'm meant to do something w/ it!

So what's my word?
Well, actually it's 2 words.
Two words that I feel go well together when I think about what they mean to me and how I need to incorporate them into my life:

Less/More

They even have the same amount of letters! #WINNING
And I do feel they CHOOSE me, which is the way it's generally supposed to work w/ OLW.

Now I need to figure out why (though I kinda know) and how I will use them.

Thanks for reading my rambling!
I would love to know if you are participating in OLW this year, whether officially or unofficially (like me) and what your word is!
Please leave me a comment below.
Thank you!

01/27/18 - "Cats Are Jerks" / -Jan '18 CKC-

Hello!
I created this layout last night using ONLY my January "Counterfeit Blog" kit.
I also used their current challenge of "Inspired By Nature" as inspiration.

2-Page Midori Travelers Notebook Spread
(each page is 4.5 x 8.5)

"Cats Are Jerks"
Journaling:
"David wondered why the plant on our rain barrel was growing so weird; he suspected Panini...he was correct! 07.16.16"

I also scrap lifted this layout from a fellow SB.com member:

This makes Layout #4 for the Counterfeit Challenge and layout #20 of the month.
I'm telling you if you haven't tried scrapping in a Travelers Notebook, you should!
